References in classical literature include the belief that upon death the otherwise silent Mute Swan would sing beautifully - hence the phrase swan song.

Have you ever had a friend that reaches into your life in a way that changes you forever? That makes you want to be a better person, a better friend? I have. And I don't think she even realizes how much she has touched my life.

I was going through a dark time in my life. I felt driven to immortalize myself through my art in as short a time as possible. I didn't want to be famous or rich, I just wanted to be remembered by the few people that come to my gallery. I didn't want to think I would be forgotten by the world. So I drove myself to sit at my computer for 10 and 12 hours at a time. And in the process I forgot the joy of creating. I forgot to just breath.

I was reminded by my friend steppeland :iconsteppeland: and so this is for her. Yes I drove myself to finish this one but there was joy in the painting also. It's probably not my best or most intricate, but when I was done I felt happy. That's the way it's supposed to be. I tried to finish it before you got home from your trip but didn't quite make it. This is for you my friend. Thank you for all you've done.
